A Little More About Me
I was born in the early 70s in a small city called Solo, Central Java, one of major island in Indonesia. I grow up and stay there until I graduated high school and then moved to Bandung ( 1991 ) for higher education. I’ve got a degree in Business Management from Economic Faculty, Padjadjaran University, in 1996.
Landed my first job straight away after graduation, nothing sort of people would imagine a business school graduate would have, my first paid job was 3D Animator / CG artist at Pixel Effect Animation Studio, Jakarta.
In 1999, I decided to go independent and created a company with some friends, called SimComm, a web design and multimedia company. After the dotcom burst around 2000-2001 ( and after a failed acquisition of SimComm by some Singapore company ), I moved on to another startup called IndoWerks, which I essentially set up and run until I left in early 2003, which also unfortunately a point where the company degrades and vanished a year after.
Freelancing for quite sometime, I landed another job at EMS, a local subsidiary company of Electrolux. This time I worked as Product Development Manager for their new IT division. The IT division was intended to become a business unit, not a support department, therefore I was basically setting up another start up, this time under the hood of bigger, more established company, with somewhat different core business competency. I set the focus of the division into mobile business and mobile content providing, which still in early stage of the industry. We were riding the hypes of mobile internet and MMS back in that days, which turned out to be less lucrative than expected.
For some reason the division was dissolved in early 2005, partly as one of financial crisis resolver for the company, and there I was, hitting the road again. Soon after, I work as Development Director for OASE International, and in early 2006, I was appointed as Managing Director ( until now ), after previous MD got fired by the shareholder.
I’ve taken some unusual measures to re stabilize the company and cut off unnecessary overheads, resulting in smaller yet no nonsense team. I believe in unconventional spartan working environment that emphasize effectivity and efficiency , and also a firm believer in people’s ability to collaborate across virtual space. The key is to grow and maintain passion and enthusiasm of each team member over the works at hand.
